Choose To Make A Difference SUMMARY: The HR Consultant provides experienced professional support for a defined Human Resources assignment, initiative, or period of organizational need. Working with general direction, the role independently plans and executes moderately complex work, evaluates information, applies sound judgment, and recommends practical solutions aligned with organizational objectives, HR practices, and applicable requirements. Assignments may span one or more HR disciplines, including HR leadership support, benefits, talent acquisition, learning and development, HR operations, HR information systems, employee support, or other HR programs and projects. The specific focus, priorities, and deliverables of the role may change as business needs evolve. Each engagement should be supported by a written assignment scope identifying the primary functional area, expected outcomes, key stakeholders, and anticipated duration. The role does not inherently include ongoing people-management responsibility. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions and skills of this position. However, this in no way states or implies that these are the only duties you will be required to perform. Duties may be assigned on an ad-hoc or as needed basis depending on the needs of the College/University. The omission of specific statements of duties and skills does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is an essential function or skill of the position. Lead or independently execute assigned HR projects, programs, processes, or workstreams from planning through completion, including defining activities, coordinating resources, monitoring progress, and resolving routine obstacles. Provide consultation, guidance, and responsive support to HR leaders, business partners, managers, employees, vendors, or other stakeholders within the scope of the assignment. Analyze information, business needs, process requirements, and available data; identify issues or opportunities; and develop well-reasoned recommendations or solutions. Create, maintain, and improve HR materials, communications, reports, presentations, procedures, tools, system documentation, or other work products required by the assignment. Coordinate cross-functional activities and manage stakeholder follow-up to support timely, accurate, and effective delivery of assigned work. Interpret and apply established policies, procedures, program requirements, and relevant laws or regulations; identify matters requiring escalation or specialized review. Identify process gaps, risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities; recommend and help implement changes that strengthen service delivery, efficiency, accuracy, or the employee experience. Handle sensitive employee and organizational information with discretion and maintain appropriate confidentiality, records, and documentation. Adapt priorities and approach as the assignment and organizational needs change while maintaining accountability for agreed-upon outcomes. Illustrative Assignment Areas Depending on organizational need and the individual’s experience, assignments may include - but are not limited to - the following: HR leadership support : coordinate priorities, prepare executive-level materials, support meetings and initiatives, manage follow-through, and provide project or operational support to HR leadership. Benefits and Wellbeing : support open enrollment, vendor coordination, plan administration, associate communications, audits, issue resolution, or benefits-related projects. Talent Acquisition: support recruiting initiatives, requisition and candidate workflows, sourcing or selection activities, hiring-manager consultation, and process improvement. Learning and Development: coordinate or develop learning programs, content, communications, logistics, participation reporting, or program evaluation. HRIS and Analytics: support system configuration or testing, data validation, reporting, documentation, user support, implementation activities, or process integration. HR Operations or Generalist support : address employee or manager inquiries, coordinate employment processes, review transactions, support policy administration, and assist with cross-functional HR initiatives. Perform other related duties and contribute to other HR priorities consistent with the professional level, qualifications, and general scope of the role.
